How to Get a Medical Marijuana Card in Arkansas

Asking yourself how to get a medical marijuana card in Arkansas? We’re here to help walk you through the steps. Getting your Arkansas medical marijuana card doesn’t have to be complicated, but there are a few steps you’ll want to follow to make sure everything goes smoothly. At Dope Medicinal, we help patients every day complete their medical marijuana evaluations, gather the right documents, and get approved quickly, often through convenient telehealth marijuana certification appointments.

Step 1: Make Sure You Qualify

To get certified, you’ll need a diagnosis of one or more qualifying medical conditions recognized by the Arkansas Department of Health, things like chronic pain, PTSD, cancer, severe arthritis, or epilepsy.

Your Arkansas marijuana doctor will need to confirm your diagnosis and complete a Physician Written Certification form as part of your Arkansas medical cannabis application.

Step 2: Schedule Your Evaluation

You’ll need to meet — in person or via telehealth marijuana certification — with an Arkansas-licensed doctor who’s authorized to certify patients for medical marijuana. At Dope Medicinal, our licensed physician, Dr. Sandra Bailey, provides compassionate care and efficient service. She can conduct your evaluation in-person and remotely, and deliver your paperwork the same day.

Step 3: Apply Through the Arkansas Department of Health Portal

Once your certification is complete, you have 30 days to apply online through the Arkansas Department of Health’s Medical Marijuana Portal before the certification expires. You’ll need:

  • Your completed Physician Certification
  • A copy of your Arkansas driver’s license or state ID
  • A $50 application fee (non-refundable)

Processing typically takes about two weeks, and once approved, you can immediately print your own Arkansas medical marijuana card from the portal, in addition to the mailed copy you will receive from the Arkansas Department of Health. Your card will be valid for one year.

Step 4: Know the Rules

Here are a few basics:

  • You can purchase up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis every 14 days from a licensed dispensary.
  • Home cultivation is not allowed in Arkansas.
  • Cannabis cannot be used in public places, vehicles, or around minors.

Step 5: Renew Annually

You can renew your medical marijuana card up to 60 days before it expires. You’ll need a new certification each time, something we handle for returning Dope Medicinal patients with ease, and as a patient, we’ll send a reminder when the time comes to renew so your access to care stays uninterrupted.
